Agile Fundamentals for SEOs - Beta Course Signup
Join the beta course cohort starting 12th July 2022
The beta cohort has sold out! Thank you to everyone who has signed up and to everyone who showed an interest in the course.
Hello everyone.
I’ve been working the last month to create an online course for SEOs who want to work more effectively with product & development teams.
The goal of this newsletter has always been to provide guidance and tips on how to work with development teams.
For the last few weeks, I have been gathering some feedback from Alpha testers to better understand how to teach SEOs about product and development practices.
The result of these discussions is the Agile Fundamentals for SEOs course (working title).
I am still working on the content for the course and I want to get some feedback from those who are interested in taking the course by running a beta cohort.
Note: The Alpha discussions and interviews also highlighted other courses I could produce to help SEOs work more effectivley with developers and product managers.
Agile Fundamentals for SEOs
Why start with this course?
Agile is a core part of how elite product and engineering teams get things done.
When I started in a Product Management role the term “Agile” and its practices were completely alien to me. It was a steep learning curve (and I am still learning).
As I worked with development teams and released features in an enterprise software company for other SEOs, I began to realise that “getting” Agile requires experience with the right team.
If you can learn to speak their language and understand the principles that make up Agile processes, you can learn to work more effectively with developers to get things done.
Unless you are part of a team that has a culture of learning and teaching it can be frustrating for SEOs to understand these rules, practices and fundamentals.
That is why I created this course: to help SEOs learn the rules of the game, so they can work with product and development teams to get things done.
I want to make sure this course is balanced between understanding the building blocks of Agile AND providing practice tips & tricks I have learned working with developers.
📜Course Curriculum
🚨Warning: This course content is definitely a “work-in-progress” and not polished. The goal of this cohort is to beta test the unpolished content for those willing to provide constructive feedback.
The beta cohort curriculum over the 4 weeks will be as follows:
Week 1: Agile Mindset - Underst the habits, values & principles to work with development teams
Week 2: Release cycles & events - Understand the release cadence of your dev team and the approach you’ll need to work with teams in Sprints
Week 3: Continuous delivery - Understand how to visualise workflows with dev teams and how to work with teams that continuously release
Week 4: Link Thinking - Understand how to reduce waste and work with teams that validate ideas before releasing them to users
Every week the beta cohort will meet in a 90-minute time-box.
Each week the 90-minute session will be broken down into two parts: Presenting the content around the topic & discussion and feedback.
🧑🤝🧑Target Audience
The course content is designed for those who work A LOT with development, product and agile teams. This might mean that the content might be a lot more useful for in-house SEO teams who work day-to-day with engineering teams.
HOWEVER, I’ve had feedback from Alpha testers who are consultants and working in agencies that some of the information in this course is useful.
I’d recommend this course if you want to learn:
The habits, tips and tricks that can help you be more effective in working with development teams
Why engineering teams use Agile practices to get things done
How SEO teams can hit the ground running and start working more effectively with product and engineering teams who use “Agile” processes
How SEO teams can approach product and development teams at the right time and continue to work with them in the right way to get things done
How SEO teams can alter their approach depending on the Agile maturity and processes of the product and engineering culture
📅Beta Course Schedule
The beta cohorts begin on the 11th of July 2022:
Cohort 1: Tuesday at 15:00 (UK Time) for 4 Weeks
Cohort 2: Thursday at 14:00 (UK Time) for 4 Weeks
I’ve made the times later in the day as this provides the best chance for those in the US to be part of the cohort.
💰Beta Cost & Number of Seats
The price for a seat on the beta cohort is £120.

Time is precious and I want to say thank you for spending your time giving feedback and investing your energy into helping shape the course.
